Named for its rear-suspension design, which mimics the lines of a vintage hard-tail frame but offers the comfort of modern suspension that is hidden under the chassis, every Softail has clean lines, a low seat height, and a rigid-mounted, counter-balanced Twin Cam 96B powertrain. The rigid powertrain allows tight packaging of the engine and frame.

Each Softail model also features the 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission for outstanding mid-range torque and relaxed engine speed when cruising. Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection (ESPFI) enhances engine efficiency, provides crisp throttle response and easy starting, and self-adjusts for changing environmental conditions to maintain performance.
